Footdrop

(2 discussions)

I fell on 12-31-02 and pulled the ligament in my left leg. I also have footdrop. I was wondering do that never ever come back or will I be like this for the rest of my life. I’m in the process of going to have a nerve test done. I’m not sure what comes after that.

Don’t worry, if you only stretched the nerve, then feeling should eventually come back. I dislocated my knee a year ago, causing me to tear my ACL and LCL, stretching the nerve. I also have a footdrop, and am using a brace to allow myself to walk. It’s been a year, and feeling is about halfway back. They say that nerves repair at a rate of 1mm a day, so don’t give up hope. Good luck on the testing.

Hi, I was to my Neurologist this week. I have foot drop for a year and a half. I was told I have Perioneal Palsy and that there is nothing to be done. My question is this: Will this condition get worse? Will I keep loosing the muscle in my right leg. I do have a brace for my shoe to help me walk. What prognosis can you give me? I am concerned as to how bad this can get. It’s a bit depressing but I hope you can tell me something more as to what to expect. Thank you, Lillian
