fractured fibula

(2 discussions)

I’m 38 years old, 5’11” tall and 210lbs. I’m in good health. On 8-02-03 I rolled my ankle and fractured my fibula in two places. These are hairline fractures that start on the outside of the fibula and meet up on the inside of the fibula kind of like a “V” turned sideways. I’m in one of those boot braces and have been prescribed Vicadin and Neprosin, none of which I have taken since I don’t feel I need it. I am able to walk with the boot brace and without crutches. I have been walking on it quite a bit, but have been going slow and careful. I know I need more that 5 weeks to heal, but I have a hunt in another state on Sept. 12th that I will be going on come hell or high water. What can I do or take to get the best of my healing time? Thanks,Mike

My name is Karen,I’m 24yrs old. I broke my left fibula while I was ice skating in December 1996. I was in England for holiday.Went to hospital, and I was operated the following morning. They put 6 pins and a plate and told me to keep them for good. When I came to my homecountry and went for a visit to my Orthopedic Doctor, he kept telling me to remove both the plate and the screw. Of course I am very confused now, since they never gave me trouble in my daily exersices. Can you pls. give me your advise on the matter?
