fractured fifth metatarsel

2 years ago I fractured my 5th metatarsel. I was in a cast for 6 weeks.3 weeks ago, I some how fracutred it again.
This time however, due to the fact of having no insurance, my doctor has suguested just wrapping it in an ace bandage.
The pain seems to be worsening.
Is there anything else I could be doing, short of getting a cast?

Some better equiped pharmacies carry removable cast boots that can be purchased by customers. This is a possibility. You might also have a friend with a used one who might let you borrow it. I would think that immobilization would be best for this.

Tara, try using a compression sock/stocking and a Lidoderm patch (lidocaine)

I FRACTURED MY FIFTH METATARSAL COUPLE WEEKS AGO DOESNT SEEM TO BE GETTING BETTER. DR HAS PUT TWO CASTS ON THAT HAD TO BE TAKEN OFF FOR SEVERE SWELLING I ELEVATE ALL THE TIME ICE IT DOESNT SEEM TO BE GETTING BETTER AT ALL PAIN ISN’T BETTER EITHER SWELLING AND TOES ARE SEVERELY BRUISED AND FOOT BOTTOM AND TOP. IS THIS NORMAL? IM NOT A BABY WHEN IT COMES TO PAIN I HAVE GOOD INS BUT I DON’T THINK DR IS TREATING THIS WELL PLEASE HELP DOES THIS KIND OF INJURY SUPPOSED TO DO THIS THE FRACTURE IS ON THE MIDSHAFT OF FIFTH METATARSEL.
