I just had a Lateral Meniscus repair. My LateralMeniscus was not attached,is this the same as a tear? I took a severe blow to my knee and have a Bakers Cyston it also. The first surgeon I had (just found out he doesn’t like Workman’s Compensation cases) never mentioned any surgery on my knee or shoulder at any time,in fact he asked me when my injury was and said we need to get you back to work (light duty). When I went in to see him about my shoulder I told him I still had pain and he said that I would get a cortesone shot,he left the room and I got up to follow him and his assistant came in and asked me what she was doing. I told her I was getting a cortosone shot, she asked where and gave me the shot. When I went to the reception’s desk she asked me what she was doing, this was what it was like every office visit. I since went to another doctor and am very pleased. When he first saw me he said he would have operated soon after my injury. I have had 1 year of rehab and have had operations on my shoulder and my knee since leaving that first doctor. I know t5his is a touchy question but would appreciate a response.Does this sound like malpractice? I told my laywer thati was not happy with this doctor (lawyer recommended him) and told him I wanted a second opinion he said I did not need a second opinion twice and the third time he said that’s like asking “GOD” for a second opinion. That’s when I made an appointment to have that second opinion and told the laywer and he told me to cancel that appointment and said I couldn’t just make an appointment with just any doctor. I kept that appointment and am glad I did! What makes me mad about the whole thing is that the first doctor could have sent me to some other doctor who could have helped me and the other being my laywer not listening to my concerns and in fact wanted me to see other doctors who were associated with the same group. I also have a great therapist who told me in the beginning that I could have 3 different types of surgery on my knee, she told me what the first doctor should have been telling me as she did research on the computer and in her notes about my situation. I hope you can respond to these questions and give some thoughts on how I was/was not treated by the first doctor. Thank you!

I am 51 years old and have been unable to work out for some time due to my knee injury- I have bone on bone, osteoarthritis and an extensive tear in my lateral miniscus. I am unsure whether to have surgery. My physician says that due to my other knee problems he is unsure how much improvement I’ll hvae with miniscus surgery.
