frature of 5th metatarsal bone

I fractured my bone while disbalancing and missing one step of the stair. The doctor indicted that the simple cast for 6 weeks will do the work. The doctor maintained that there will be slight bump on the top, but that may be liveable. However being cautious I had another Xray done 4 days later to see if the bone is aligned. I understand that the bone is not perfectly aligned, but one is slight above the other. The second doctor opinon was to do a procedure to allign it and than hold it with a pin/staple, if I ant as it may come int he ay of earing shoe…. I am averse to any kind of surgery, but I want my foot to be fully functional and I could wear shoe, I am aerobic instructor. Please advise
