Gluteus Maximus problem,plz help!!!
Hello
I am a 26 year old rugby player(or was)and about 18months ago while i was warming up i strained my right glute.I managed to play about 4 more games before the pain became to harsh and had to stop.
I have seen 3 physio’s my doctor and a orthopaedic Surgeon who have all given me different outcomes.I have had xrays and an mri scan(still waiting for my results).
My surgeon thought, that there was a possible pull off injury on the insertion of the glute :/ ,after finding out that there had been no bone fragments detached.
I was able to jog without much pain untill recently(i would test from time to time),but the pain would increase dramaticlly when i sprinted.I have pain in my glute constantly, plus my hamstring, the last few months my knee and coxis (c

Gaz, Not too sure what the injury is exactly, but sounds like you are beginning to throw your posture off to compensate for injury to Glute. You need sports/massage assessment & therapy to realign your posture amd also to treat the injury. this can be lenghty process for a chronic injury that is throwing your posture off but is worth it,
Im sure if you get injury healed and back to full strenght you can play again soon.

I think you need a sports dos and physio to give you a real answer. It sounds like your tore your glute muscle. This requires peace and quiet to heal before you can begin to rehabilitate the scar tissue which is most likely present.
Since the injury is old, you can start gently rehabbing it by stretching and “squeezing” you glute. None of this should provoke any pain at all. If it does ease up and try again next time.
If indeed you have scar tissue, you may have ongoing symptoms because you continually try to test it which reinjures the fragile scar tissue and set you back to the beginning again.
See a sports physio and you’ll get the proper exercises which you have to do diligiently and you should be right as rain in a matter of weeks.
Hope that Helps,
