Gout?

(2 discussions)

My husband has been experiencing foot pain for a month.
He was first diagnosed with gout, but has been on gout medication for 2 weeks now with no relief.
He also had a cortisone shot in his foot and has been taking prednisone.
In addition to 3 different types of pain pills and muscle relaxers, he has had absolutely no pain relief.
He did have an x-ray done and was first diagnosed with capsulitis but then the doctor decided it was gout.
If it is gout, shouldn’t he be feeling some relief?
Now there is a knot on the top of his foot and he has pain going up his leg.
What else could this be?
What can he do for pain relief?

Certainly, a call to his doctor should be first on the list. If that does not get any results, then perhaps another opinion. Have you seen a podiatrist?

Yes, we have seen three different podiatrists! He has an appointment tomorrow with a rheumatologist.
