Groin Strain

(2 discussions)

Hi all,
I had a hernia operation about 5 years ago and have have trained out in the gym on and off over the past 2 years, but when ever I start to lift weights (light weights) I end up having a dull ache in my groin, this will last a few days and go. Is this because I have a weak muscle and it needs to be worked on and made stronger? I really enjoy working with the weights so would a groin support help me?

    Lynx,

Do you avoid the Valsalva maneuver when you were lifting weights ?

If you hold your breath or “bear down” like you are trying to take a constipated dump, you could be causing yourself some aggravation.

Along with abdominal wall and pelvic muscle strengthening, correct breathing technique when lifting could be the key!

    See your Doc!

    Good luck!

you should give it a try also the doc’s in charge should have suggested you strenghtened the muscle. you could also have scar tissue and that could be the cause. see a massage therapist./
