Groin/Lower Stomach Pain from Running – Wont Heal!
Please please please shed some light on this for me.
November last year I hurt my groin playing football. It started off as a tight groin then progressed to pain in my lower stomach.
Most of the pain comes from my left side lower stomach whereas the tight groin is on the right leg.
It hurts when I’m running at the point when my heel strikes the ground I get a sharp pain in my stomach. Also when I cough/sneeze.
I have rested this until now and frequently ice it. I have been to the physio and received therapy in the form of electric shock pads on my stomach and groin.
Can someone please tell me what the problem could be as the doc just says rest it for a few more weeks and the physio says I should be fine but I am not.
I have read there are maybe some exercises I could do to strengthen the pelvic muscles and stomach.
PLEASE HELP!!
Many thanks for any assistance!!!

cathals can u give me more information about the gilmores groin,
i think i might have this i’ve been to the doctors and pyshio several times but they keep diagnosing me with an abbuctor strain.
its much worse than this and is either
gilmore groin(sports hernia) or osteitis pubis.
It really hurt when i seenzed or coughed to begin with but after 6 months rest this has gone but i dont seem to be healing futher.
my legs hurt when squeezed together and all my exercises see to do is to be developing the muscles on the out side of my leg. Also i have generally pains and i can quite tell where there from. Also my right knee is slightly knocked could it to be to do with this ?
who diagonesed you ? and how long did it take to get the op.

Sounds like you have a condition called Gilmore Groin
This will require surgery to repair. It doesnt heal itself.
If you feel this when you sneeze its a fair sign that you have it
Suffered from this myself and it took a good 10 weeks rehab afterwards

HELLO,
IAN. TWO YEARS AGO THIS MONTH WHILE WORKING IN THE YARD I INJURED MY GROIN. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK I WENT TO THE MD AND THEN P.T. THEY SAID IT WAS A HIP FLEXOR/SOAS MUSCLE INJURY (THE SOAS IS A DEEP MUSCLE UNDER YOUR HIP FLEXOR THAT RUNS FROM YOUR LOWER BACK THRU YOUR PELVIS)IT TOOK A LONG TIME FOR IT TO HEAL. ALMOST 10 MONTHS. AND TO THIS DAY I STILL HAVE TO BE CAREFUL. I HAD PAIN AT MY WAIST LINE/LOWER STOMACH EXTENDING INTO THE CREASE OF MY GROIN.
I DONT KNOW IF THIS HELPS BUT I FEEL YOUR PAIN.
