Hard Impact on Knuckle

I hit the bathroom wall the other night and now my whole hand is swollen and painful. My knuckle looks smashed. Is it possible to pull the fingers and set the knuckle back in place? I put ice to help with the pain, but that didn’t work. What do I do?

This follow up may be a little late for you, but you should seek medical care from a physician. From your description, you may have fractured your metacarpal. These types of fractures may require fixation (k-wire or plate and screws) to achieve proper allignment of the fragments. The pull of your extrinsic flexor/extensor tendons to your fingers can pull fracture fragments out of allignment and lead to malunion, or at the very least a rotational deformity. At minimum you would require an appropriate splint if the fracture is stable and of reasonable allignment.
