healing navicular fx and post tib tendonitis

(2 discussions)

Hello again, Had cortisone injection the other day into post tib tendon.
I have read that if this does not work, they usually cast for a few weeks.
What is your usual treatment for this.
Again, this injury occurred 7 months ago.

Second guessing your doctor’s treatment without more information is not easy. I would want to see an MRI first to decide the best course of action. Casting is usually what I will do on the conservative side.

I had an MRI that was highly suspicious for navicular fracture, a bone scan that showed increased uptake at the navicular site as well. The radiologist compared these films and concluded that it was a fracture. My ortho felt it was minimal and, therefore, a healing fracture with significant post tib tendonitis. I’m interested in another opinion (your’s)as I read that casting is usually the course of action for this type of injury. It has just been so long since the traumatic injury occurred that I’m looking for resolution and the best treatment to get me back to baseline. Thank you for your time.
