I have a bad hip and will eventually be looking at hip replacement. Is there a sports hip brace or supporter that might support & stablize the hip while playing basketball, or would I be better off with sports compression shorts? Thanks in advance.Ken

I’m looking at a future hip replacement too so I’m interested in a solution as well.

Sam – I’ve had the replacement done – a wonderful thing. The only drawback is it is easier to dislocate the new hip, so I am looking for a brace to help hold the joint tighter while doing yard work, etc. Have you had any luck finding something?

My 98 year old grandmother fell and fractured her hip in Honduras. According to the orthopedic surgeon there isn’t anything he can do because of her age / cardiac condition. He has her in a cast on her foot to immobilizer her for six weeks. Is there a brace I can purchase that will allow her some mobility such as transfers / stand with the use of walker with minimal pain?

I will need a hip replacement in the future but still want to play competitive sports. I’m looking for a brace that can possibly absorb the shock of running and jumping. I have little or no cartilage in my hip from too many games. I find I can continue by putting a tourniquet that creates a slight hip separation but my leg muscles take up the stress. I have to tighten it when sprinting and let it loose when I come to a rest. Any ideas??????? My orthopedic surgeon tells me to just stop sprinting and jumping.

I’m a cheerleader and my hip recently popped in and out place a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was nothing but now it really hurts. what do I do? help!

I am 16 and I LOVE running cross country. last season I tore my hip flexor muscle and it healed but now whenever I try to run long distances it feels like its about to tear again, it is really weak afterwards, and hurts extremely bad. so I was also wondering if there is some kind of brace that will keep it from doin that???

My fathers hip keeps dislocating, sleeping and walking are difficult and painful. He is unable to have another hip replacement due to having a blood disorder. Is there some type of hip brace he can obtain to help him with this?

I have a bad hip and due to extensive heart problems will not undergo replacement. Is there any kind of support to assist with stabilization to assist when walking and pain. I am still playing golf but fine it more and more difficult.
