hip pain
For the past 4 days I have had a severe hip pain, it occurs if I am sitting for long periods of time or laying down, also I wake in the middle of the night with a pain and stiffness in my left hip. I am only 23 yrs old and not quite sure if I should be experiencing a pain like this so young. I am temped to make a doctors appt. however I am unsure as to which doctor I should make an appt. with? Would I contact my PCP? I have not done anything within the past week except pulled a muscle in my left shoulder and I’m not sure if that could be related to my hip pain? Please advise what could possibly be my problem.

Hi Chrystal,It sounds to me like the same thing that my daughter has, which is sciatica. That is when you have a pinced nerve that runs from you hip(lower back area) down the back of the leg and can involve the heel and the pain is extrmely painful. It should be checked by a doctor soon, as the longer left untreated, the worse it becomes. My daughter was given a short duration of Prednisone for the inflamation and pain. It helped,altho whenever I had this conditions years ago, I went to a good chiropractor and was helped more than anything. I hope this helps,Donna
