Hyperextended Arm

(6 discussions)

6 Months ago I was sparing (boxing) with my trainer. I threw a straight right and missed my target.
I felt my arm go beyond its natural range of motion. A sharp pain near my elbow has been bothering me since.
I attempted to stretch it out before each training session. As long as I keep the power lever on my straight right at 50% then I’m OK.
What might have happened?
I only feel pain when I throw the straight right and miss my target.
I could actually go 90% with my straight right as long as I hit my target.
I simply can’t extend my arm all the way like I used to. Could I have torn something?
If not, what type of exercises would help heal this problem? My last question is are there any supplements out there that can help in the healing process or the prevention of this problem?

I believe I hyper extended my arm as well. In this situation, are you supposed to keep the arm as still as possible to let it heal, or work the injury out by moving the arm around a lot? Thank you!

i am a catcher in baseball, so im pretty used to this, what you need to do is rest it as much as possible, apply ice to the extended place for 20 min, then take it off for 20 min, do this for a hour and do it 3 time a day.

I hyperextended my elbow playing basketball 14 years ago. Lately it really hurts. Is there any surgical or other solution to this problem?

A couple of weeks ago I was hanging siding and when I went to move my 12 foot ladder the wind caught it and took it over my head. I think I may have hyperextened my right arm when I tried to keep the ladder from falling. Is this possible or would it be considered Tennis elbow.
