Injured acrobat!!

Hi All. I have been a gymnast since I was 8 and more recently have been performing as an acrobat for about 3 years. Over the past year or so, I have been failing down the line due to numerous injuries from muscle strains, ankle sprains, tendonitis, and a lower lumbar disc bulge. At present, I find even swimming, or sometimes just walking to be painful. (Groin, knees, shoulders, ankles ect). The pain comes and goes and is definately worse after any exercise. All physios say I am hypermobile with a lack of core muscle stability blah blah blah , but I feel like I am getting nowhere fast. Has anyone had Successful rehab programs- will I be injured forever?? Am I getting correct advice from physios? I’m currently on a database to be employed with Cirque du Soleil, but certainly could not consider a position if it was offered at this point. If anyone has some advice, it would greatly be appreciated!

    hey bendable,
i was a gymnast for 8 years till i blew out my knee and had to quit. I still suffer from hypermobile (unstable) joints, and find the best way to deal with it is the stabalising exercises. I am a chiropractor now, so understand what my body has gone through, so i would say the physios have the right idea. find a good one, and get on a rehab exercise program. from personal experience, deep tissue massage has helped get rid of the scar tissue from all the torn muscles, and has helped quite a bit. sounds like building the right muscles to compensate for loose ligaments will be the key though!
    hope that helps?
