Inside knee pain after only 5 training runs!

(2 discussions)

I have pain in both knees in the inner joint only when I run. Walking is ok and so is after the training session.

I have just started training for a local 10K and I experienced quite a bit of pain during my last walk/run training during the running portion only. I have used my new shoes for 3 of the 5 trainings and the last one was the training with pain.

Could it be my new shoes? I was told by the sales girl that I pronate but not too badly. I am also heavy but I have never had knee problems in the past when I was a more active athlete. Is there anything I can do before too long? I’d like to continue training. I appreciate anyone’s response.

    Hi
It was interesting to read your message as i have had similar experiences. I’ve been a triathlete for 3 years now and quite recently had the pain you describe. I found the problem did rest with my running shoes as the pain was in both knees at the same time and as had changed from a hardy annual to a more technical shoe, following some ‘experts’ advice. I quickly returned to my original neutral based running shoe after recouperating for a couple of weeks by cycling and swimming. Maybe check out how bad your pronating actually is! Beware of false prophets.

Hi! I have the same thing happening to me. I just started running 5 weeks ago but the dual knee pain just started when I got up to 2 miles. I talked to my running coach who says it is probably jsut tight ligaments, to do some inner thigh stretches and ice it. So far, it hasn’t helped me tremendously but I will let you know how it goes. If you hear of anything, please let me know!
