is it a bruised rib?

A couple weeks ago in a rugby match I had a collision with another player on the opposing team. The problem with this was my elbow was rested against my side, directly on a rib. The collision was at full speed for both of us. It has been a couple of weeks and I’m still having pains around the rib. The rib in question is sticking out, sort of like a big lump. I didn’t know whether this was what usually happened to a bruised rib or what. Can someone please give me some guidance, and let me know if I need to get an x-ray if it’s severe please reply
