Is this Anterior compartment syndrome???
Hi
i need some help here
i think i have anterior compartment syndrome
but not 100% sure (sounds like it via the Virtual Therapist)
i wonder if any1 can help me
and see if i actually need to see my GP
the pain is at the outer lower leg
just right of the shin (just next to the bone feels like this pic http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/gallery/muscle/tibialisanterior.jpg )
the thing is
i dont feel any pain when i run
i usually do some running on Tuesday Wednesdays and Thursdays for around 20-30mins
at a pace when i finish my legs are tired (am im over doing it??)
and i play alittle badminton after these runs sometimes too
which i dont feel no pain either
the pain comes when i play basketball on monday
it takes only 10-20mins and the pain starts kicking in
and the pain goes after a few mins rest and comes right back after i play again
i had this kinda time table for a few months now (dont use to do the running or badminton but did more basketball)but only started to have this pain for a few weeks
any advice??

if you let it go, it can become a big problem. i let mine go and now i’m dealing with a stress fracture, this doesn’t happen every time, but by letting the injury go you are setting yourself up for some complications. and compartment syndrome itself can be very serious. you can lose blood flow to your foot. i still think you should go see a doc and most likely they will send you to a specialist, but once you have a diagnosis and a course of treatment, you’ll know how long it will take for you to get past this. in my opinion that is the best thing, a true diagnosis with a plan for treatment. good luck, again!

it could also be anterior shin splints. i’ve been dealing with those for almost a year, and my doctor wasn’t even sure if i had compartment syndrome, so he tested me for it, and i didn’t have it. it could just be that your muscles are tired and have started to cause shin splints, but if anterior shin splints aren’t treated, there is always the possibility of them leading to anterior compartment syndrome. as for going to see a doctor, it can’t hurt. the worst he/she can do is just say that you have shin splints. if i were you, i would probably get it checked out. in the mean time, try to ice your shins to reduce pain and swelling that should help and if you freeze little cups with water in them and slowly peal away the cup to show the ice, use the ice for a massage in the area that hurts, that always helped me too. good luck!
