Itch INSIDE heel???

(3 discussions)

I have been having the feeling of ULTRA itching in the heel of my left foot for about a year. Coincidentally, I’ve also been wrestling professionally since the itching started.
I know that when I get slammed, I’ve botched a “bump” and instead of the soles of my feet taking the shock of the slam, occasionally my heels do.Now, I have no pain in my heels whatsoever, I’m wondering if the itch is possibly from nerve damage from constant bumping of the heel?
If so, is there anyway to correct the damage?

If it is nerve damage, then we generally tell a patient to rest the area and in time (months) it should recover. Unfortunately, I ca not tell you the extent of the damage or even if it is a nerve problem. It would be helpful to see a podiatrist and discuss a cortisone shot in the area.

upon your visit to the DPM you can do a diagnostic injection (local numbing medicine) to determine which n. involvement, which would also allow for more definative treatment the area, which would most likely be a steriod injection to calm down the nerve
