itchy right heel

(6 discussions)

Hi.
Over the past year, I have developed a itchy right heel, normally itchiest in the evenings when I am trying to sleep. I have a feeling, it may be to do with stress. I have also had kidney infections and the itchy heel is at its itchiest. Can anyone help?

    My right heel has been itching for as long as I can remember. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one with this problem, but I’m sorry that you have to deal with it as well. I, too, use the carpet trick to itch it because my nails don’t seem to do the trick – EVER! I have never thought about going to a podiatrist about this problem, or even looking the issue up on the net until just now when it started itching uncontrollably. I can’t stand it anymore…nothing helps make it go away.Next time I go to the doctor, I will ask about it and let you know what she says. Let me know if you come to any conclusions as well.

    The problem I feel is tinea. These sysmptoms are the same as I have always suffered from it particularly on the outside of the foot. Its aggravated by wearing nylon socks. I find wool blend better as they absorb the moisture. Treat with tinaderm lotion.

    Hi. Your question was the first hit when I searched Google with “itchy heel”. I am stunned for I was hoping to find people with a similar situation to mine, but not so easily!?So you have an itchy ‘right’ heel…!!?Mine drives me nuts, but its the left one. Also worse at night but can hit me just any time of day, at home or at work, bare foot or wearing shows. I also have concerns regarding either my liver or my galbladder (but no diagnosis yet). I just can’t stand it anymore!! I’ve had this concern for ages! Maybe 10 years or so!!! The other day while watching TV at some relatives, I just had to rub my left heel very rigourously on the rug. I looked weird, but I couldn’t stand it anymore… I stopped the heavy friction when my heel felt like it was on fire! It hurt for a couple minutes, but then I was relieved for a while. But not for long. Now I’m back home, and I can’t seem to get rid of it or make it less annoying. My nails aren’t hard enough to scratch it. I’ve always treated my feet in priority for some reason. I even have a reputation so friends offer me foot care products for Xmas and other special occasions! The itch is located in a very precise spot on the left heel, never moves, about a square cm or less, maybe even the size of a needle head but I’m not sure…Hope you enjoyed my description. After all these years, it is the first time I search for an explanation. Even though I do have a hunch it has to do with the hepatic functions…Does this make sense? Can someone PLEASE help me?!!? Thank you in advance.C ;

      Hi,It seems to me that there are quite a few of us that have this itchy heel thing. Mine comes and goes throughout the year… I find usually worse in the winter months. Usually late evening it starts. Walking helps to ease it. Seems that when my feet are hot, the itchiness is worse. My feet are totally fine looking…no rashes, bumps, growths etc. I have my pedicures and love my feet (specially with pink polish!) and there is really nothing “odd” going on down there. I have also been to a foot doctor who had no answers.Interesting that my husband and Father both have the same itchiness at times (at night as well). I have done a little research (I’m sure there are many ideas on the topic) and one possibility may be due to toxins in the body not being released. The feet are a large area of elimination and toxin buildup. Letting the feet “air out” as much as possible could help. I have had liver problems…. So there could be a connection there too somehow. I will keep searching….and if anyone else comes up with an answer and /or solution, please help! Thanks!

    Mine turned out to be a plantar’s wart. Because thick calloused skin grew above it, I had no idea and would have never suspected if the Dr. hadn’t told me. The wart was actually quite small and deep in the heel. It’s hard to get rid of – I had to cut off the dry skin with a razor, then freeze the wart several times over six months.
