Jumpers knee

(2 discussions)

Hi, I am a freshman in college, and play on the womens basketball team. I am starting to develop the third stage of jumpers knee, and it is only preseason.I’m getting pain while making any sharp cuts, and running in general. I have been icing and heating, and also wearing straps. But with practices day after day, it is just getting worse. Could you please give me ANY suggestions that you may have, as I have a long 4 years ahead of me. Thank you for your time…-Timyra Hudson

If you don’t get a reply from this site, try their sister site…the “ask the PT/ATC” site.

Well I’ve had this injury for a long time now, used to be VERY bad, hurting even when walking on level ground. Recently I have started to get better, and even back into running. All I can suggest is taking good amounts of vitamin C and other minerals/vitamins the help healing of tendons, and eating good food, As well as stretching a LOT; your quads, hams, calves, the Iliotibial band, and anything else ( even upper body ) that is tight and unflexible.
Also check that you have good shoes.
