Knee dislocation

(2 discussions)

My daughter dislocated her knee and had to have surgery because she tore one of the ligaments that holds the kneecap in place. She plays softball, I was wondering if they make a knee brace (not hinged because of sliding) that is opened in the back? Do they make such a thing or do you recommend something else? She has to wear the brace when she plays. The one she has now is closed in the back and it rubs her raw when she plays.

I dislocated my right knee . I was in a cast for 5 weeks and then went to phsio. for 6 weeks . When I walk for more than 10 or 15 feet it feels as if it is dislocating again . My Family doctor says that I have 2 choices : live with the problem or have surgery. My “knee doctor” has said nothing about surgery. I need to go back to work . I am a cook and it is very fast paced work .How long is the recovery time for surgery. The knee dislocated to the outside of my leg.
