knee injury…how bad is it?

(3 discussions)

about a month and 3 weeks ago, I was playing basketball and I was going up for a block. When I came down, I landed on someone’s foot and didn’t get the proper landing. As a result, my knee locked in and twisted as well. At first my knee was hurting a lot, but like most of my injuries, I walk them off and they go away after a week or so. However, this one has not and I’m afraid I might have made it worst. My left knee hurts in the upper right side(inner part), in the back of my knee, and the outer left backside of my knee. It feels like a pinch and sometomes as if someone was stretchin the backo of my knee. Now, my right knee is hurting slightly in the same places as my left bad knee but not as painful, I guess since I have been using that leg more often to support the left knee. I am seeing a bone doctor this coming wed, but I just wanted to know if anyone had this type of injury before?

If it is a torn cartilage… What does that mean as to what are my options to fixing the injury? Is surgery necessary? Or do you think I can just do some knee therapy to strength my knee… Thanks

Hi- I’m 15 years old. I’ve had pretty much the same exact thing happen to me when I was about 12-only I got kicked in the knee which lead to losing my footing. I got diagnosed with tendonitis and osgood-schlatter’s because of stretching the cartilage out too much. I now wear a knee brace when I play sports. I’ve also had physical therapy recommended.
Hope everything goes well with you
