Knee op recovery and snowboarding

(2 discussions)

Hi all,

I had a knee arthroscopy about a year ago, and had quite a lot ‘done’. Some cartilage was removed and a bit of a general tidy up was performed. It is pretty much fine now (occasionally a bit sore after a run, round of golf or when it’s cold in the morning).

However, I am going snowboarding in Quebec in January and I am a little concerned about protecting it. Should I use an off-the-shelf brace or would it be worth getting one fitted? Any other tips for protecting it?

Thanks in advance,

Austen.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your reply, it is appreciated.

To be honest, I’m more scared by the horribly low temperatures that they have. I’ve never been in more than about -10 at the lowest, and I’ve heard it can down past -30!

    Cheers again,

    Austen.

As long as you have no ligamentous instability, you should need more than a generic knee sleeve, if anything.
