Knee pain…HELP!!!

(3 discussions)

I am having pain in the knee (just below the kneecap on the front and also behind the knee). Occurred when running down a fly ball. It hurts when I sprint and when I flex the knee past 90 degrees; if i sit in a particular position for too long, the knee locks up. No swelling and it does not hurt to the touch. Hamstring is not tight and quad is not tight. Does not hurt to jump or cut. The pain has been there for almost 2 mos. Not getting worse, but not getting better.
1) any clue what it could be???
2) what can I do for it???

I would go and get an MRI of the knee in order to know for sure. about two years ago I completely tore my ACL and the cartalige around it in 3 areas….I had a very long and painful rehab that lasted 6-8 months. Of course your knee injury doesn’t sound that serious, a doctor might diagnose physical therapy first..then if the pain doesn’t go away, surgery. Not as scary as you think for your sort of injury. Good luck.

No, I haven’t seen a doctor yet. I have a sort of phobia when it comes to doctors.

A physical therapist friend of mine told me that he didn’t think it was the meniscus due to the fact that it does not hurt to cut (change direction). Don’t know how accurate he is??

    Have you seen a doctor?
It could be a torn meniscus. Sounds like the same kind of pain I had, when you tear your meniscus it doesn’t heal itself as it gets no blood flow. I had to have surgury, the healing process is fast I just had it five days ago and I am walking now.
