Knee Tendonitus

(5 discussions)

I’m a high school football player and a vivid athlete. For about 7 months now my knee has been bothering me. I have gone to doctor after doctor, and it seems to be that I have chronic tendonitus. They told me to strengthen my hamstrings and calfs, and ive done such that with no result. It still hurts as soon as i get done running or when im running or cuting. I take Ibephrophen constantly and it still bothers me. I have stayed off it for months also. If any of you have had this problem or know how to help it please tell so. I have also heard of the shots, Quartazone? Any imputs on that? Thanks matt

From what in understand, doing leg extensions is bad for the knee,as its stresses the patellar tendon. For the inflammation, instead of advil, etc, possibly try some of the natural anti – inflammatories, such as Bromelain ( pineapple enzyme ), or Curcumin. Either of these are much easier on the stomach. I had major golfers elbow, and Bromelain, and massage, and ice took care of it. Good Luck!

    Brent again…

i replied to you a while back about your tendonitis..i went and saw an orthopedic surgeon yesterday…he has recommended prolotherapy as a solution…it’s all over the internet if you want to look it up…injections help regrowth and strengthening of tendon. Steer clear from cortisone shots…they can actually weaken the tendon. I’m still taking glucosamine sulfate and my knee is feeling somewhat better.

have you guys worked our your quadriceps by doing leg extentions?

I don’t have what you guys have, but I did have problems with my knees and I solved them by doing leg extentions, massages and rest.

    hey,

i have the exact same thing. i saw a family doctor, sports doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist and got nowhere. it started about a year ago…almost unnoticeable. it would hurt a little after a soccer game (i play religiously). would come and go though. after 4-5 months it hurt after every game…then it started hurting before games and then before, during and after…this is when i went and saw all the doctors. i found laser treatment and ultrasound from the chiropractor helped. i ended up taking 1.5 months off of indoor soccer and it felt great. now it’s hurting again and my knee grinds and cracks and hurts after driving or sitting for a while. the pain is by no means unmanageable..it’s just a pain in the ass as you know. it doesn’t hurt as much as it did a couple months ago, but now i’ve noticed that in the middle of the tendon under the knee cap…it feels as if it’s not as thick and fiberous as the other one..bah..although i’ve read a lot on the situation i’m as confused as you are and doctors aren’t helping either. i still play, but pychologically fear tearing it all together because it’s weakened. i started taking glucosamine sulfate..it’s helps build and regenerate tendons and ligaments..apparently…the thing with me though is i can play football, volleyball, workout at the gym and it doesn’t hurt at all…just soccer. good luck

cortisone injections seem to be more a painkiller than a treatment so probably not a solution. Other than that I dont know
