LACTIC ACID PAIN ?

(3 discussions)

I play soccer and go to the gym each twice a week, and have done so for a few years now.

The only problem I continiously have at the gym is terrible pain from what I am presuming is lactic acid build up which is really holding me back.

As an example, if I do 1500 mtres / 5 mins on the rowing machine, as soon as I stop I get unbearable pain in my forearms, which lasts for 20 minutes or so. This is the same when training other muscles.

I’m sure this can’t be normal as I’m in so much pain I can’t do anything for a while, or have I just got a low pain threshold or something ?

Any ideas ?

Many thanks,
Darren.

To ease lactic acid build up you must drink enough water so that your muscles can flush this out. If your body cant get the water it needs to flush it out the muscle will hold it in a ball and then you may end up with trigger points. Trigger point therapy teaches you that you may get pain in a muscle if you are low on mineral salts in the body which are:
Potssium, calcium, magnesium, vitamin c and vitamins B-1, B-6, and B-12. You may try to take a supplement with these in it and see if that doesn’t help. Talk to a massage therapist that specializes in sports massage or Trigger point therapy. If they can’t help you then they usually have a list of other professionals that can help. Massage is an inexpensive treatment in consideration to some others. You should also ask your doctor if the supplements would be in your best interest.
muscle pain comes in many forms. I am talking about “myofascial pain syndromes” for your future reference when talking to a doctor or therapist. I hope you find you answer and that I have been of some help.

are you sure youre drinking enough water?

are you breathing properly while doing the exercise?
