I also had a tear in my left labrum about a year ago. I tried conservative measures such as therapy and a cortisone injection but nothing was really long lasting. I relented to sugery about three months ago, and I am doing really well. THe first couple of weeks were hard and I was wondering if I made the right choice, but now I am sure I did. Aside from repairing my labrum they also tightened the capsule and remvoved several bone spurs (i was told this was acutally the most painful part). I have been in therapy for about two months and am regaining most of my motion and strength, it just takes time. If you have any other questions feel free to email me.

I have been diagnoised with a right labrium tear and I just had a cortizone shot and I also have calcium deposits behind the muscle. I’m hoping I won’t need surgery. Write me and tell me more about the surgery. Thanks

recent MRI of left hip showed Trocanteric burisitis over replaced left hip. Confusion about report of right labrial tear, but no symptoms on right side. Some clear spondoloisthesis with L23 forward by 4 mm. Pain on point of trocanter, grapefruit size swelling in left Glut Max and minimous This condition has essentially remained same or degraded over 3 months, desptite 3 epidurals and chiro and accupunctur. I am frustrasted.

hi! I am having similar problems and have spent the last 5 weeks going through a herd of tests (xrays, ct scans, MRI w/ & w/out dye).many labrium tears are mircoscopic and MRIs are your best bet in finding out. Even then, unless you get a radiologist that specializes in hips small tears can be missed. mine had to be reread twice before they found the tears. orthoscopic surgery is your best bet for getting better. PT is great for rehab, but not the best for reduction of tears.as for the pain on the point of trocanter. This can be your Tensor Fascia Lata muscle. If your tensor fascia lata muscle is too tight like mine, it gets pissed off and swollen as it moves over the greater trocanter (hense for the grapefruit swelling). Cortizone shot is a good way for bringing the swelling down, but only get one or two (at the most). Too much cortizone will mess up the joints. Mine (tensor fascia lata) went steadly downhill these past 5 months before I was finally able to get the right doctors who figured it out. I also have small tears in my labrium which complicated the issue, plus synovitus (inflamation of the synovial fluid). For treatment of my TFL over the greater trocanter” I got the cortizone shot & will be going through three months of PT to strengthen my TFL, with progress strentghing of the hip abductor. If that does not work, or it gets worse, there are going to go in and lengthen the TFL. Surgery is something I would like to avoid if possible, but am not opposed to when needed.A good webste for hip bones is:sensored://www.dartmouth.edu/~anatomy/hip/hip%20bones/bones4.htmlI just found a case where a lady had hemotoma in the tensor fascia lata. The picture looks like a small grapefriut under the skin. Check this website out and see if this helps:sensored://dermatology.cdlib.org/DOJvol7num2/case_reports/hematoma/nakano.htmlokay this was long, but hopefully helpful. Good lick with your treatment options and remember “just because they cannot find it, does NOT mean it doesn’t exist.” It is not in your head.

Hi Jen, I recentley had the same surgery on my left labrium. My question is, sometime if I get startled or kinda jump from beeing frightened my shoulder feels like it almost slips out. Have you had any simular scares or incidents where you felt the same type of sensation.
