ligiments in the ankle

I was recently in a snowmobile accident. I injured my lower leg quite severely. When I arrived at the hospital, the outside, front, impact zone was swollen out about 2 inches from my shin bone. It ha been about a week since the accident. I continue to have severe acute pain in my leg. My calf and the muscels on the front of my leg are very tense, adn always very sore. I still have some swelling on my foot and the front of my leg, in a small oval shape. Any suggestions for therapy, or what I should do would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

rolled my ankle while going down some steps about 7 weeks ago. I can walk on flat and up stairs. Going down steps still causes swelling and trying to kneel (extending my foot) causes major pain in in the top of my foot near my toe area. Bumping my foot on the side causes pain in the ankle area where it tends to swell if I do too much. I have not had tests. Is this a typical sprain???
