Lower back pain…pelvic

My husband complains of lower back pain.
It is better with exercise, but worse at rest, mainly in the morning. He also sometimes complains of hip pain, heel pain, and occasionally shoulder pain.
He is just recently complaining of pain (like a pulling sensation) near the pelvic area.
He saw a urologist a few years back, and nothing was found.
I have read about an arthritic condition called ankylosing spondylitis, and I believe he has this.
Would chiropratic adjustments be beneficial for him? Last xray also indicated “dextroscoliosis”, what’s this?

There is no specific blood test to test for AS. However, individuals who have AS also have a gene that produces a "genetic marker", in this case, a protein called HLA-B27. The test is not specifically for AS but it can be a very strong indicator in that over 95% of people in the caucasion population who have AS test HLA-B27 positive. That is, if you are caucasion. The hallmark of AS is involvement of the sacroiliac (SI) joints, x-rays will help diagnose AS. Older patients will typically have a spine that appears on x-ray as bamboo tree or a train track appearance, it is a classic presentation. Can chiropractic help? It will all depend on the degree of ankylosis (fusing of the spine). I have patients whose spines were fused from the head all the way to the pelvis. Nothing we can do for someone in that stage of the disease. If the spine has not yet been fused, chiropractic is a great choice for treatment. Chiropractic manipulation or adjustments will help keep the SI joints and the vertebral joints mobile. Also, there are natural supplements such as proteolytic enzymes that help with the inflammation. Dextroscoliosis is a scoliosis (curve in the spine) with the convexity of the curve on the right side. How old is your husband. The classic presentation of degenerative arthritis is morning stiffness and pain that gets better with activity. It is a possibility that your husband has AS but I would lean more towards it being good Ol Uncle Arthur (Osteo/degenerative arthritis).
