Meniscus repair/rehab
Our 16yr old son tore his right lateral meniscus in baseball…he had surgery to repair the tear 3 weeks ago…his tear was located on the outer edge – where there is a good blood supply…the Dr. told us that he can not go back to sports for 3 months…yet we have found many sites on the web that state that aggressive rehab is working better and that if all goes well, the athlete can return to sports in 8 weeks…what is one to believe…..Dutchie

Opinions very greatly on this subject, but the OS I work with typically returns athletes around 3 months like you said. With a mensical repair it is imperiative that the repair is given significant time to heal. Some of the info you may be looking at might pertain to when the surgeon removes the tear.
