Mom’s shoulder surgery

My mother(73 yrs. old) is having a complete shoulder replacement (R) on dec. 16th.
What are some possible early exercises that might be good for her( I was thinking in front of the T.V. art projects, ect…)?
I will be with her for 3weeks post-op.
Thank you, Julie

There are exercises called pendulum swings that your mother could do that won’t stress the shoulder joint, but will provide good passive range of motion. To perform them, bend forward and let the arm hang, then using body movememt only, rock back and forth. The momentum will cause the shoulder to move, but will not stress the muscles around it. Move the body so that the arm rotates in circles and moves back and forth. Your mother can perform these 2 to 3 times per day early in her recovery
