Mortons Neuroma

I have been diagnosed with a Mortons Neuroma over a year ago. It is between the 2nd and third toe. This developed immediately after bunion surgery. I am not happy with the idea of another surgery but the doctor advises me that it is my only option. He said it is very thick inside the foot. We tried cortizone but it had no effect. My question is…will the neuroma get worse in time or is it possible that it will stay the same? Right now I am able to tolerate the off and on pain. Also, what are the chances that the surgery would be successful and not bring on further problems? He chooses the method of going after the neuroma from the top of the foot.
