Morton’s Neuroma

I have had a neuroma removed from my right foot in Feb. 2012.
I had alot of pain that went on for months after.
The doctor finally decided it had grown back and took it out again in June.
He thinks it should be okay now, but I am still in alot of pain.
He doesn’t want me to get addicted to pain medication, so he told me time would have to take care of it.
I told him I was going to get another opinion, because I can’t tolerate the pain.
I went to another doctor today and he gave me an alternative to surgery.
It is an injection called Sclerosing Solution.
He gave me an article to read and it sounds pretty interesting.
I just don’t understand why my other doctor didn’t recommend this.
Is it safe?

Yes, sclerosing a neuroma is safe. The technique is an old one that has regained popularity recently. The mixture must be made up by the doctor or a pharmacy. It can be a bit difficult to get the alcohol, but it is doable. Not everyone does this procedure. It can be painful and requires weekly injections for 5-7 weeks. It may be helpful to you and it may not. Only time will tell. Good luck. Vivian Abrams DPM
