MRI Results

I have results from an MRI, but don’t know what to do, or who to go to for a possible solution.
Stretching and exercise has worked for many years, but after my latest back strain2 months ago, stretching now aggrevates my lower back.MRI Results:There is disk desiccation at L5-S1. In addition to mild concentic anular bulging a left paracentral very shallow disk protrusion is once again identified.
This has decreased in size since the previous examination exerting less mass-effect upon the emerging left S1 root. No central stenosis or significant foraminal narrowing is seen.Disk desiccation and slight disk space narrowing is seen at L4-5.
There is concentric anular bulging and a small central posterior anular fissure, not substantially compromising the central or neural canals. The remaining visualized intervertebral disk spaces are unremarkable. The conus ends normally at the T12-L1 level and no abnormal signal is seen in the distal cord. No prevertebral soft tissue are signal abnormablities are identifed.Impression:1. Slight interval decrease in size of a previously identified left paracentral shallow L5-S1 disk protrusion.2. Stable mild concentric anular bulging at L4-53. No focal disk extrusion, central stenosis or foraminal narrowing is identified.

Joe, here is the important parts broken down for you “2. Stable mild concentric anular bulging at L4-5″This concerns me though because this is how another bulge would begin.”3. No focal disk extrusion, central stenosis or foraminal narrowing is identified. “This just means that your spinal chord space is not abnormal and so it is just in there to make sure that you don’t have a weird narrowing of the spinal canal.
Another thing that concerns me is the disc dessication. It appears that your lower 2 discs are drying out, either through not enough rest or not enough movement. Here is the downside for you. As your discs get smaller the space for your spinal nerves to exit the column gets smaller. Your discs are getting smaller and that means there is more likelyhood that your nerves will get impacted.
There are actually several posts on this board talking about disc dessication if you would like more information about it.BTW why is it that the provider who sent you for you MRI didn’t explain the results to you? That happens a lot and I never understand why they don’t tell people what what is going on. The DCs I worked for all explained to people what their reports said it was just the right thing to do, it is the patient’s body afterall.
