Mystery Knee Problem Painful to touch

Dear Injury clinic forum:
I have a pain in my knee. More specifically, in the front of my knee there will be localized pain. Just above the knee cap and just below. The pain occurs when I touch the area, or when I rest on my knees. I do not have any pain when I run or hike, etc… I had this about three years ago and it disappeared. One activity that is suspect is riding a fixed fear bike up hills. I am 49, so getting a little old. Any thoughts on giving this problem a name, and treatment. RICE and rest don’t seem to phase it.

I fell to the ground immdeiately and i could not get up for a while.
