Nagging Groin Injury

I had an injury I wanted to ask about. I have experienced this for about more than a month. The first time I experienced the injury was in a basketball game. I was moving my feet on defense and felt a sharp twinge in my groin area, I can never really specifically pinpoint the area but it is rather a more broad area. I feel the twinge around the area where the abductor muscle meets the groin or around tthe pubic bone. When playing basketball and I get the sharp pain, which would happen after a while when I have played real hard and usually, I feel the pain moving side to side on defense. Now, after that sharp twinge, I am stiff and I am tentative to play hard defense again because then I might feel the sharp pain again. I am stiff after the pain, only a little dull the day after and I’m 100% again after that but lets say a week later, when I’m going hard again, I feel that sharp twinge pain in that area and its frustrating because I stiffen up and I am much less agressive. Does anyone have an idea what this is?

Hi MAte, my name is pal I am a Qualified Nurse and Sports Therapist, although it is very difficult to give an exact diagnosis without seeing and testing someone out, it sound as if you have got an adductor strain, which sounds as if it is at the point of origin, apart from initial rest and ice treatment to the area for the first 48hrs,then you need to start to re strengthen the injured part,if you havent any info on how to do that let me know directly on
    regards – paul
