need medical terms for my injury to aid search for info

I recently injured the outside of my left foot and have been told in layman’s terms that I “burst the capsule where the ligaments meet the joint.” It is not very painful, but is still swollen, and, if it does not heal in the next couple of weeks, may require surgery.
Since I was busy fainting from the aspiration of the injury during my office visit, I didn’t ask too many questions at the time.
Now I would like to learn more about foot anatomy, my injury, etc.
However, I lack the medical knowledge and “lingo” to do an effective search on the web.
Can you make some suggestions?
Thanks.

There are many websites where you can get information. Several consumer friendly one are webmd and medscape. You also might do a search in a search engine for various terms you are interested in. Good luck.
