No PT for achilles rupture

(2 discussions)

8 weeks post surgery for complete rupture. Am now in Cam-Walker boot at 10 degrees.
I saw Dr. today and told him I was ready for PT.
He said no PT for this rupture.
I am athletic and question this.
Would appreciate other’s thoughts on PT after achilles rupture.

May not need PT. I suggest riding a bike if it’s ok with the Dr. Too many times, aggressive PT can ruin the repair. This is a major injury and needs to be taken seriously. Ask the Dr. what he would do if you were a Professional Ball player, then go find a good PT.

I disagree: There are some modalities that may help facilitate soft tissue healing that can only be provided by a P.T. Check out the literature provided by the A.P.T.A. Aquatic Therapy may also be of benefit to you….good luck!
