Numb foot during running
I’ve only recently started running (three weeks ago) and have got to a stage where I can run 4 miles, not alot but not bad for only 3 weeks training!
Problem is, after about 30 mins of running my left foot goes numb!.. eventaully I can’t feel it at all. After a minute of stopping when I finish it goes back to feeling normal.
Any idea what this could be?.. Should I see someone and find out if my arches aren’t right or I under/over pronate?. these are relatively new terms to me but seem to be a major cause of lower leg and foot problems.
I think perhaps it’s the muscle swelling in the shealth which is restricting the circulation to my foot, is this a possible answer and if so will it go with time?
Thanks in advance for any responses!

youknow
I have that same problem and find that if I stretch out my hamstrings and calves extensively before a run my foot won’t go to sleep. A pain in the arse nonetheless.

You might try a different lace pattern… I have a friend who had that problem and he changed his lace pattern so that he skipped the holes right over his instep and the problem went away. Good luck!

I have had that problem, then I figured out that I was tightening up the laces on my shoes too tight. Try to loosen your laces see what happens. If that doesn’t work go see your docter!

OK — this sounds simplistic, but have you tried changing shoes? I recently bought new shoes and have the same symptom as you describe. I think if might have to do with the arch support.
