numbness in the ball of the foot under the small toe

hi, I feel numbness in the ball of my left foot under my small toe. I feel as if I am walking with something stuck to the sole of my foot.
I am 27 years old . some 2-3 days back, I experienced pain in the whole of the left leg. But there is no pain in the feet.
Can you please help me in finding out what is my problem.

Generally if conservative treatment such as pads, wider shoes, injections of cortisone or sometimes a solution of alcohol and local anesthestic do not work, surgery is an option. There are 2 different approaches. 1 from the top of the foot and another from the bottom. Each has its pros and cons. Doctors make the decision to do either way based on training experience, patient etc. There is no right or wrong.Basically the neuroma is cut out. There can be numbness on either side of the 2 affected toes. AFter stitches are removed, some patients can return to a sandal or soft loose shoe, depending on the individual, it may take a number of weeks to feel comfortable in all shoes. There is no cookie cutter explanation as people are all different in their tolerance to pain and levels of activity differ which affect the post operative course.A discussion with your doctor should be next to get any questions answered. Good luck.
