Orthotics

(4 discussions)

How many orthotics are made by chiropractors? I was told by one Chiropractor that 60-65% of orthotics come from them. Is this true? Thank you for any information you can give me.

I have just had surgery for Posterior tibia tendon dysfunction. Iam doing well but my other foot is going the same way. My surgeon said there is no support that will help to eliminate it. Is that true? I don’t want to tear the other tendon like I have done the left one. It swells bad when I am walking on one foot recouperating from the surgery on the left foot. Thanks

I have very successfully used braces for this problem for several years. The original is called a Richie brace, but several other labs make a very similar one. PAL makes the Platinum brace and Seattle Systems amkes the SUre Step brace. I have used all of these and have had very gratifying results. Some of my patients are not candidates for surgery, so this is an option.

That is a question I can not answer with any degree of certainty. There are several reasons. Podiatrists, physical therapists, chiropractors, orthopedists all make orthotics. There are custom made as well as pre-fabs. You might want to contact one of the larger podiatric labs such as Langer’s or PAL (Podiatry Arts Lab) They might be able to give you numbers of custom orthotics they make. But there are numerous companies that make pre-fabs from all over the world.Having said all that, I can not imagine that a chiropractor would have any more knowledge than I would about the % made. I also would point out that your Zcoil shoes while decently made, at least in some that I have seen would do well with a rigid custom orthotic.
