Osgood Schlatters

Hi, I am a 35 year old female who has been dealing with OSD since I was about 10.
The bones on my knees are so prominent and painful that nothing I do helps with it.
I have had 2 surgeries on my left knee and it has not helped.
I was wondering if anyone out there has some type of information or experience in dealing with OSD that a person does not grow out of.
The pain is so great at times, I feel it I could get knee replacements that is the only thing that would help. Do you have any suggestions or know of any person who may specialize in the treatment of OSD?
I would appreciate any info. or help you could give me.
Thanks.

Have you ever been on an aggressive Quad, hamstring, calf and hip flexibility program? I mean daily for about 2 months.

I’m facing quite the same problem. I am an 18 year old female who has had OSD since around 11. My OSD has recently become much worse than in the past few years, but I have not grown since the age of 12 or 13. I try not to become heavily involved in high impact sports, sticking mainly with golf and swimming. As for physical activity now, I swim every day, and I do have a streching program that I follow twice a day (and have for the past four years). But, alas, none of this seems to help. My ‘bump’ gets bigger, and my pain increases little by little. Although it is not as bad as this summer (I could walk around and be on my feet for about 4 hours, then I would have to sit down and rest for a long time), I would still like to hear ideas and input on the subject.

hi i’ve pretty much in the same boat as you are. i’m 24 and have been struggling with osd since I was in grade 5. it’s been a long struggle and from what I can gather it’s not going to stop. i’ve tried icing and leg wraps, everything but surgery. (from what I gather, the surgery is rarely successful). I do feel for you as i’m going through the same pain.
