osgood schlatters disease and patellar tendonitis

(2 discussions)

ok I am in 9th grade, and I play football and weightlift. I have had Osgood Schlatters disease for about 5-6 years. This past March I went to UMPC to see Dr. Chris Harner-he is supposed to be one of the best orthopedric surgeons. He wanted me to get a MRI, and so I did. It showed Osgood Schlatters,Pateller Tendonopothy, and inflamation. He then recommended me for 1 month of Physical Therapy. He said that if that didn’t strengthen my VMO that surgery might be a possibility. My father asked what kind of surgery they do, he said they open my knee up and they shave of 10mm of tendons, they shave them off because they turned rotten after all the inormal growth. So I went back to see him last week, and he had second thoughts of surgery. I wish I had surgery, this pain hurts soo much and nothing helps it. He says to just wait, but it affects how I Squat, play football, and I am getting tired of this. Do you think surgery is good? What should I do?
