Osgood-schlatters disease is something that usually happends in childhood and mostly to kids that play sports which involvs lots of jumping. That sort of activity causes forceful contractions of the quadricep muscles, or the front of the thigh. Because of the force of the muscle it pulls on the insertion of the muscle, which is call the tibial tuberacle. This pulling causes the bone to reshape and appear as a bump, which can be quite painful. When it is painful, the person should stop all sports, stretch and strengthen the quads. When it’s pain free they can try sports again. Do a search for it on the net, I’m sure there is lots of info.
Ususally the pain subsides in adulthood and folks rarely have trouble with it after that.

: My son Jonathan has just been diagnosed with the disease. He plays on the trampoline a lot, plays hockey in the winter and is about to start soccer. I guess the trampoline is a major contributer. What therapy can be done, and what exercise do you recommend. My son is 12 and weighs about 120 lbs. He is average height.
