Osgoode-Schlatters Disease

I suffered OSD in my youth. it was diagnosed as such, but I was told that there was no effective treatment. I continued on with highschool sports (football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, and later softball). I am now enrolled in a Basic Law Enforcement Training class. For my mid assesment, I leg pressed 855 lbs. I have gone from a “once in a while” pain to a constant “sharp” pain. This has been going on for two weeks. Is there anything that can be done to aleviate the pain? Is there a surgical procedure to sole this problem? I am now 29, over weight, and have lived with this for 18 years. Thank you,Josh Hopper

hi josh, I also have OSD; it started when I was 12. I just met with an orthopedic surgeon today to discuss a simple surgical procedure to remove much of the bone that protrudes. apparently, it’s a low-risk, common procedure, and requires about 6 weeks of recovery time before you can be fully active again.
