overpronation and chondromalacia

I am 25 and have just been diagnosed with chondromalacia in both knees.
I have low arches in both feet and overpronate with walking and running.
I bought arch supports for my tennis shoes, but they have provided little relief. Can my overpronation be contributing to my patella chondromalacia? Would I benefit from custom orthotics? If so, what specifically should I request? Thank you.

In order to answer your question better, an exam and evaluation would be needed. Custom orthotics can be helpful to control the pronation that can sometimes contribute to chondromalacia. There are other causes as well.Custom orthotics are made by many practitoners. As a podiatrist, I feel we have the most training and understanding of the biomechanics of the feet.
