Ow my elbow

(2 discussions)

I play softball everyday, but for a couple weeks, I have had a great deal of pain on the inside of my throwing elbow when I throw everyday. Some days its gets so bad that I can’t close my hand.

I think Sarah’s right you have medial epicondylitis. You need to rest and ice it and ultimately increase the strength of the flexor muscle. To stretch it hold your hand out palm up and bend your wrist back so your palm is forward. then gently pull your fingers “across” your body.

you should see a Doc for a real diagnosis and then a PT for a strengthening program. you can also use a forearm brace to reduce the stress at the point of attachment of that muscle.

    Hope that helps,

Sounds very much to me like “Golfers Elbow” This is similar to tennis elbow but affects the tendon on the inside of the arm rather than the outside.
You are probably straining it as a result of bad technique. Try ajusting your throwing technique. If you have a coach ask their advise.

Apart from that rest it until it’s recovered and then be carefull so it it doesn’t return again. If you keep hurting it, and don’t look after it, it will eventually become a permanent or chronic problem. So sort it now!!!

Obviously I am only guessing, it’s always best if you are worried to get advise from someone who knows!!

    Good luck with it!
    Sarah.
