pain and burning in ball of foot

about three weeks ago the bones in the ball of my left foot became tender and sore. very sore to touch and tender when I would walk. now the pad of the ball is swollen and is hot to touch and severe aching pain when I stand or walk, extremely sore and feels like it is on fire all the time. I have tried ice, creams etc. nothing helps. I have noticed this past winter that my feet have been so cold that they actually hurt. cold these 2 be related or have I got another problem.. Thank you
