Pain behind the knee when running

I was wondering whether anyone can help me identify an injury I have picked up. I have started running after a couple of years layoff and seem to be getting this pain behind my knee to the righ hand side of my right knee. The pain seems to be coming from the “bridge type” bone or surrounding area behind the knee (apologise for the technical jargon) and appears during my running and is very painfully afterwards but not for long. It’s seem OK within a day and I can walk free from pain and it doesn’t really hurt when I prod the area.

It will be dificult for anyone to say exactly what is wrong with your knee from what you have written. My advice to you would be to go and see a specialist sports Doctor. Dont bother going to see a Physiotherapist first as they will only treat your symptons, a doctor will treat the cause. Hope that helps. Cheers then and good luck.
